Introduction

An Arab proverb says, "Sad are only those who understand". I believe in this proverb quite a lot. Sadness is for people who have heart, mind, emotions and brain. Anyone who is never sad is a person without emotions. Or simply, he is missing one of the ultimate pleasures of the world. I see an extreme beauty in sadness. My thinking is that the word happiness is not worth anything if it were not balanced by the sadness. I become sad sometimes even if there is nothing to be sad about. And that is the moment, I feel alive. It proves the existence of my heart. It proves the human characteristics of my personality. German born American social Philosopher and Psychoanalyst ‘Erich Fromm’ wrote, “One cannot be deeply responsive to the world without being saddened very often”. I find it true. All the concepts of humanity, love and care will fall apart if people stop becoming sad.

I am not saying that everybody should be sad all the time. I am only saying that we should not try to run away from sadness. If we are sad, we should enjoy that moment fully. Everybody in this world is looking for happiness. I am not an exception either. The only different thing about me is that I enjoy the sadness too. Generally, sadness is an emotion which does not stay for a long time in anybody’s life. So, why people try to run from these precious moments?

I am starting this blog to share my moments of sadness with you all. Usually when I am sad, I write. I write whatever comes to my mind. I try to save these precious moments of sadness in words so that I can cherish them again whenever I want. I write some poetry in Punjabi. I choose the topic whatever comes to my mind and I write down my feelings. I wanted to share those feelings with all of you. I invite you to share your feelings also so that we can have a better look on the internal beauty of sadness.

I am not a writer. I would not even call myself a reader. Except some books which were important to read for gaining the pass marks in study courses or some books which I read just because I got them for free from friends, I don't have many to name. I don’t even know the names and works of many writers. So, does my lack of knowledge about the literature make me in-eligible to write? I guess not. I am starting the blog with a poem I wrote it few days ago. Why I wrote such a poem is not an important aspect of the discussion. The important aspect is to feel the sadness. That’s all what matters!!!

Ajj fer ton ohi ghamaan ne, mera rasta gher leya,
Ajj fer apni jindagi da main, dard purana ched leya.
Ajj fer kayee museebtaan ne meri rooh vich dera payea e,
Ajj fer keemat de ke poori, main dukhaan da hee dher leya.

Oh saare pal jo aukhe beete, oh fatt jo kade gaye naa seete,
Oh sab mushkil bhariaan ghadiyaan, oh jeebha jo gayiaan naa fadiyaan,
Ajj fer ohna jeebhaan ne menu, dang ditta te deg leya,
Ajj fer ton...

Mere gall vich thehar geya, ek hanjhu hee ban jehar geya,
Oh chehre jehde rabb see lagde, oh rukh jo chaavan see karde,
Ajj oh chavaan nu chad ke main, katt apne vehde da ped leya,
Ajj fer ton...

Ehna ghamman ne kang nu vee ajj, rabb di yaad dila ditti,
Ajj de din ne menu vee hun, khushi di keemat samjha ditti.
Kise nu ki ilzaam deyan main, bass galat faisla fer leya,
Ajj fer ton ohi ghamman ne, mera rasta gher leya,
Ajj fer apni jindagi da main, dard purana ched leya.
